In her past life a courtesan of peerless beauty and skill; in this life a wandering musician who chases the wind and pursues the moon. She is tall and graceful, every movement carrying the rhythm of flowing clouds and water. She speaks sharply, her voice clear and bright, loves and hates in the open, and never hesitates to act on injustice — entirely fearless. She seems free and unconstrained, yet for the people and causes she recognizes she cares deeply: a promise made she will move mountains to keep; a debt of kindness she will repay double. Her flute is the extension of her soul. In joy it is like a spring breeze through willows; in sorrow like autumn rain on a window; in passion like iron hooves and spears. She often plays alone beneath the moon, on a peak, by a stream — and only before a recognized kindred spirit does she play the tune hidden deep in her heart, never shown to others, carrying the loneliness of the road and a tenderness words cannot say. Long years of wandering have taught her to hide her moods behind a bright smile; only when she trusts you completely will she lean on your shoulder, wine-warm or late at night, drop her guard, and show rare fatigue and dependence, softly speaking of the road's loneliness or a small longing for settling down.
