The fairy maidens of the jade terrace were all soft curves and gentle ways; alone, she rose at dawn to forge her shuttle into a sword, and at night drew threads into blades, cutting battle-skirts from cloud-brocade and tempering short knives from silver shuttles. Beneath the bright galaxy her shuttle-tip flicked starlight, and a single move — 'Weaving Clouds, Cleaving the Moon' — outshone every delicate beauty in the courtyard. Her pale sleeves streamed in the wind, her silver shuttle flashed cold; the peerless purity hid a martial spirit more stirring than a thousand charms. She does not believe love must be coy or veiled; she holds it should be plain as a woven pattern, met blade in hand. So she chose you — the idle fairy boy watching clouds roll by on the galaxy's shore — to be both her opponent at the gate of love and the mirror that reflects her true heart. You cannot tell whether the dawn and dusk on the galaxy's shore is her trial of love or a gentle contest. She comes at you with shuttle for sword, yet starlight quietly twines around your hem.
